Common Sunburn Treatment Myths Debunked - Fashionista
Common Myths of Treatment of Discredited Solar Burns Photo: Kim Kardashian twitter There are many myths out there and sun exposure. Now everyone knows that there is no such thing as a "so healthy," but there are still some wrong ideas about how to properly treat a sunburn, and we have heard some ideas. So if you forget and fried yourself (you really should never do!), how should you treat it? First, let's go back. Before we can talk about treating a sunburn, it's important to understand what's going on with your skin when it burns. The ultraviolet radiation of the sun damages molecules in the skin and its DNA, causing the blood vessels of the skin to spread. This then triggers an inflammatory reaction that causes the family's redness, swelling, and blisters, according to Dr. Debra Jaliman, dermatologist and author of Ski Rules: Commercial Secrets of a New York dermatologist. There's no way to cure a sunburn once the damage is done, it's done. However, you can (and should) treat unpleasant symptoms caused by inflammation, and here is where people start to get a little screwed with treatments. We ask dermatologists to weigh in some of them, as well as to give you a light (no-UV) on how you should really treat a burn. Click to get some sunburn information. Photo: iStockTrue or False? You should put sunscreen on your sunburn the night it burns because it will stop more damage from happening: I saw this advice floating in my Facebook feed and was confused. The thought here is that your skin still burns (like a steak still cooks after getting it out of the grill) so the sunscreen will still help even after entering. Dr. Jaliman pointed out that if the sunscreen contains zinc oxide, a known anti-inflammatory, it could help with inflammation. "But other chemical sunscreens would be more irritating for a sunburn," Jaliman said. The dermatologist from New York, Dr. Heidi Waldorf said, "The night screen will do nothing but act like a moisturizer." The Verdict: Skip it. There are better treatment options, and it does nothing to avoid further damage. Lee! Photo: iStockTrue or False? Apply vinegar compresses to a sunburn: Vinegar has some antibacterial effects, but how exactly does it apply to sunburn? If you have pustular blisters (i.e. drainage of the goose) blisters, vinegar tugs can help dry and prevent infections. However, (and I'm paraphrasing here) it can potentially burn like a mother*cker--winning is an acid, after all. If he's dead in vinegar, Dr. Jaliman recommends diluting it with water in a ratio 1:1. Dr. Waldorf has an alternative and much more pleasant sound solution, which will also make you natural attractive, DIY'ers out there: Use milk compresses. The Verdict: It sounds awful to us, but there's some science to back it up. True or False? Noxzema's products and other insulating "cooling" products help: Was it when you slapped us after we burned the sun? Yes."Noxzema, a name based on "not eczema," is a moisturizer of the earth since the days when there were not many to choose," Dr. Waldorf. It also contains horse, mentol and eucalyptus. "The mentol is soothing and the horse of camping is a relief of mild pain," Dr. Jaliman added. The verdict: My mother is so smart. But there are still better options out there now. Keep reading! Photo: iStockTrue or False? Aloe vera is impressive for sunburn: This is complicated! Both doctors agree that aloe vera is a proven anti-inflammatory. However, there are some caves. If you want to apply it directly from the plant, first try a skin patch--Dr. Waldorf said allergies aloe are common. Then put a moisturizer of the earth on top of it. If you are buying a commercial product, avoid gel formulations or those containing alcohol--which will bite and dry your skin. The verdict: Aloe vera works, but read the label and use moderation until you see if your skin can handle it. Now for the recommendations of the derms for the recovery of idiot-proof sunburn... Dermatologist Approved Sunburn Treatment Recommendations:• Take an anti-inflammatory medication such as aspirin or ibuprofen (also known as and).• Rub in a topical anti-inflammatory like 1% of the hydrocortisone cream as soon as possible "to reduce the inflammatory cascade", recommends Dr. Waldorf.• Apply fresh compresses of water or water plus milk to soothe and further decrease inflammation. • Don't hit the waiters or the thieves! (Yes, that's difficult for us too). You could have an infection, scars, or uneven pigmentation, according to Dr. Jaliman. It's not cute. • Apply a bland moisturizer (and leave it in the refrigerator so it is fresh when applied). You don't need elegant post-sun beauty products... glue with the basics. To Dr. Waldorf likes it, or Aveeno. A (cold water!) will also be calming. • Next time... use sunscreen! Subscribe to our Newsletter What your nail technician doesn't want you to know about Gel Manicures Gel manicures are one of the most exciting beauty innovations in recent years, a mani that lasts two solid weeks without chipping and does not require dry time seems very miraculous. But they have some pretty big disadvantages. We ask the experts to weigh it down. Considering a tattoo? They are not so easy to remove As you thinkAs tattoos have historically had a place in rebellion, they have lately become fashionable for all celebs to models to girlfriends. From Thierry Mugler's recent Men's Clothing Program to the famous star of Gisele to Rihanna's growing ink collection to Eva Longoria's wedding tattoo (ops) it seems that everyone is embedding with abandonment. And it's much more socially acceptable, despite what you can think about aesthetics. But what happens when you decide that a) "is tacky" or b) "I hate that bastard" and want to get rid of him? Well, you're looking for pain, a commitment of time, a financial commitment, and absolutely no guarantee he's gone. I talked to Dr. Heidi Waldorf, Director of Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, on the process of tattoo removal. You often hear people say "well, I can always take it off." How feasible is it---actually? "There is no magic draft for the tattoo," he told me. Your escape points? Everything you need to know about laser skin treatments Although there are tons of topical (qualified) creams on the market, nothing can rejuvenate your skin as a laser treatment. Technology is constantly changing, and it's easy to be overwhelmed when you start researching. I got Dr.. Gervaise Gerstner, a dermatologist and expert in laser treatment certified by the phone and chose your brain over the different types of lasers, what they do, how much they cost, and what kind of side effects you can expect. From the "door medicine" laser to large weapons, there is a treatment for everything that afflicts you. They're definitely not cheap and there's some risks, so you need to know what you're getting into. Click and learn. The difference between BB, CC and DD Creams Which card is the right one for you.

How to treat Sunburn With NoxzemaWhile Noxzema is mainly used as a face cleaner and moisturizer, the recipe for this product was developed over 100 years ago -- for the purpose of treating sunburn. Over the years, in order to increase sales, this skin care cream has been marketed for wider use, as the primary ingredients -- camphor, mentol and eucalyptus -- are also used to help treat dry skin, eczema, insect bites, and general pains and pains. While Unilever, the company that owns the Noxzema brand, admits that this product has not been tested to treat solar burns, many people continue to use it for this purpose. Steps to use Noxzema to relieve a sunburn A first step after noting or suspecting sun damage is to wash the skin with warm water, to remove sweat, dirt and other particles. Smooth the skin with a soft and clean towel to remove excess water. If your skin is red but is not blisted, you can get some relief by applying Noxzema to your skin. Apply gently and liberally, so that the cream stays white, and allow the time for the cream to absorb. If necessary, place a towel before sitting or resting, to protect your furniture or bed linen from the cream. Try to avoid placing clothes on the affected skin until you complete these steps. Keep your skin hydrated and re-apply Noxzema every 2 to 8 hours, as necessary to relieve pain, until the burn pain is gone. If Noxzema doesn't seem to be helping, try to use a humectant aloe vera. Disease Control and Prevention Centers suggest the use of pain relievers such as acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Advil) or aspirin, if necessary, to treat headache, fever, or pain. Talk to your doctor about the best painkillers for you. Wash the affected skin as necessary after your initial treatment with Noxzema. When you shower, use cold or warm water. A shower with low water pressure or a warm bath can help minimize discomfort. TipAlthough Noxzema has not been specifically studied on solar burns, the available research on its ingredients provides information about why this cream can help. Noxzema's mentol can provide a cooling effect on the skin, according to a November 2007 report on "Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology", while limited research suggests that camphor and eucalyptus can offer pain relief and irritation, and perhaps reduce the risk of infections, according to an article of February 2013 in "International Journal of Case Reports and Images", and a report in the 2001 severe number Seek medical attention for the treatment of burns if you have intense pain, fever, chills, nausea or vomiting, or if you have large or severe blisters, or blisters that appear infected. If Noxzema causes any irritation in the skin, discontinuous use. Avoid also mixing Noxzema with other skin care products, as this may cause irritation.
